The Footage Changed Everyone’s Mood
Within minutes, the group’s attitude completely shifted. No one was joking anymore. They gathered around Rahul’s camera and watched the video again, this time more carefully. The elephant was striking the ground over and over, each movement filled with force and urgency. A few older villagers exchanged worried looks as they studied the footage.
“That is not bathing,” one of them said quietly. Another agreed that the movement looked too aggressive and too focused. Someone asked Rahul where he had seen her. He pointed toward the forest and explained that it was only about fifteen minutes away. After a short silence, one of the men stood and said they should take a look. That was enough. A small group quickly formed, some carrying sticks only for safety, others calling out to nearby homes. Rahul led them back into the forest, and as they got closer, they heard the same sound again. This time, no one could pretend it was normal.
