Rahul Knew This Was Not A Normal Elephant Call
Rahul had not been back in the village for years. Most of his adult life had taken him elsewhere, studying animals, working around wildlife reserves, and documenting behavior in the field. Elephants had always fascinated him most. He knew how they moved, how they protected each other, and how quickly their behavior could change when they sensed danger.
Over the years, he had noticed elephants becoming more nervous and unpredictable, not because they were naturally aggressive, but because their world was getting smaller. Forest paths were being disturbed, land was being cleared, and encounters with people were becoming more common. That was one reason he had returned to the village. He wanted to spend a few days documenting the wildlife near the place he had explored as a child. It was supposed to be a simple visit with a camera and a quiet walk through the forest. But the sound he had heard changed everything. Rahul knew elephants did not cry out like that unless something was seriously wrong.
